Taizé prayer is a very simple and very quiet way to prayer, it is a sign of reconciliation, and it is for all Christians. The services are very meditative, simple chants are sung, and lighting is usually by candlelight only. Taizé prayer services began in 1940 in Taizé, France by Brother Roger. Alone in the beginning, he soon had brothers from Protestant and Catholic backgrounds come to live in his community and that tradition continues until today. During World War II, they gave shelter to refugees.

At Old Mission Santa Inés, Taizé Prayer Services are offered the first Friday each month at 7:00 PM in the Mission church. During major Christian holidays – Christmas, Easter, etc. – these times may fluctuate.

It is suggested you contact the parish office, 805-688-4815, to verify the times each month. All are welcome!
